Home Gifts UK is the local brand name created by charitable company Helen Owen Marketing Enterprises (HOME) CIC as a way to cover the funding gap and create an income to help make the award-winning company more sustainable.
These products are the first of the line and have been created whilst on the first lockdown as training could no longer be delivered face to face – which has resulted in a loss of income and funding.
HOME CIC like many other local charities and charitable companies are facing financially hardship as their aim to deliver support services to many vulnerable and disadvantaged people is becoming more difficult. They are doing this without any reassurance of funding and therefore are heavily reliant on the generosity of volunteers.
Helen McCabe, Director of HOME CIC is quoted as saying “For the last 5 years we have delivered training face to face to many local people which has been vital for them getting into work. We are now having reinvent ourselves and look at other ways that we can support young people getting into work and one of these ways is to teach them how to start their own social enterprise by creating products and selling them online.”
The hand sanitisers are the first of these home branded goods that have been created and we are hoping that a new product line will be launched before Christmas.
